Instructions

  1. 1Preheat the oven to 150°C (300°F). Line a 16x16 cm or 18x18 cm baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. 2For the cookie dough: In a bowl, mix the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Add the egg and mix well.
  3. 3Add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt to the wet ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  4. 4Fold in the chocolate chips. Set the cookie dough aside.
  5. 5For the brownie batter: Melt the butter and chocolate together until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.
  6. 6In another bowl, whisk the eggs with the white sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. 7Add the melted chocolate and butter mixture to the egg mixture and mix well.
  8. 8Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Mix until just combined and smooth.
  9. 9Pour the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  10. 10Spoon the cookie dough over the brownie layer and gently spread or dollop it on top.
  11. 11Sprinkle extra chocolate chips and sea salt flakes on top if desired.
  12. 12Bake for about 28 minutes at 150°C, or until a toothpick inserted near the edge comes out clean.
