Pad Kra Pao (Thai Basil Stir-Fry)
Ingredients
- 11 lb ground beef(454g)
- 25 garlic cloves(15g)
- 32 serrano peppers(20g)
- 41 handful thai basil(15g)
- 51 tablespoon soy sauce(15g)
- 61 tablespoon water(15g)
- 71 tablespoon fish sauce(18g)
- 81 tablespoon oyster sauce(18g)
- 90.5 tablespoon sugar(6g)
- 101 cup jasmine rice(185g)
- 111 cup water(240g)
- 121 egg(50g)
Instructions
- 1In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, 1 tablespoon water, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and sugar to make the sauce.
- 2Mince the garlic cloves and slice the serrano peppers.
- 3Heat a pan over medium-high heat. Add a little oil, then add the minced garlic and sliced peppers. Sauté until fragrant.
- 4Add the ground beef to the pan. Flatten it out and let it brown, then break it up into small pieces as it cooks.
- 5Pour the prepared sauce over the beef. Stir and cook until the sauce thickens and coats the meat.
- 6Add the Thai basil and stir until wilted. Remove from heat.
- 7Meanwhile, rinse the jasmine rice and cook it with 1 cup water according to package instructions or in a rice cooker.
- 8Fry the egg in a separate pan until the edges are crispy and the yolk is still runny.
- 9Serve the beef and basil stir-fry over jasmine rice, topped with the fried egg.
