Slow Cooker Steak & Guinness Pie
Ingredients
- 1500 g beef steak (diced)(500g)
- 21 onion (chopped)(100g)
- 32 carrot (sliced)(120g)
- 42 celery stalk (chopped)(80g)
- 52 garlic clove (minced)(10g)
- 6330 ml Guinness stout(330g)
- 7250 ml beef stock(250g)
- 82 tablespoon tomato paste(30g)
- 91 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce(15g)
- 102 tablespoon plain flour(16g)
- 111 teaspoon dried thyme(1g)
- 121 teaspoon salt(6g)
- 130.5 teaspoon black pepper(1g)
- 141 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry(250g)
- 151 egg (beaten, for brushing)(50g)
Instructions
- 1Season the diced beef steak with salt and pepper, then toss with flour to coat.
- 2Place the beef, onion, carrot, celery, and garlic into the slow cooker.
- 3Add Guinness stout, beef stock, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, and dried thyme. Stir to combine.
- 4Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours, until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- 5Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 6Transfer the beef and gravy mixture to a pie dish.
- 7Cover with the puff pastry sheet, trim the edges, and press to seal. Cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
- 8Brush the pastry with beaten egg.
- 9Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
- 10Allow to cool slightly before serving.
