Classic Vanilla Bean Glazed Donuts
Ingredients
- 12 cup All-purpose flour(250g)
- 20.5 cup Granulated sugar(100g)
- 32 teaspoon Baking powder(8g)
- 40.5 teaspoon Salt(3g)
- 50.75 cup Milk(180g)
- 60.25 cup Unsalted butter(57g)
- 72 Eggs(100g)
- 81 Vanilla bean(5g)
- 94 cup Vegetable oil (for frying)(960g)
- 101.5 cup Powdered sugar(180g)
- 113 tablespoon Milk (for glaze)(45g)
- 121 teaspoon Vanilla extract(5g)
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- 2In a separate bowl, combine milk, melted butter, eggs, and scraped vanilla bean seeds.
- 3Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
- 4Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into donut shapes.
- 5Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot to 175°C (350°F).
- 6Fry donuts in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 7For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- 8Dip warm donuts into the glaze and let excess drip off. Place on a rack to set.
- 9Serve donuts warm, ideally with coffee.
