Char Siu Pork (Chinese BBQ Pork)
Ingredients
- 11 lb pork shoulder(454g)
- 23 tablespoon soy sauce(45g)
- 32 tablespoon hoisin sauce(34g)
- 42 tablespoon honey(42g)
- 51 tablespoon sugar(12g)
- 61 teaspoon Chinese five spice powder(2g)
- 72 clove garlic(6g)
- 80.25 teaspoon red food coloring (optional)(1g)
Instructions
- 1In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, sugar, Chinese five spice powder, minced garlic, and red food coloring if using.
- 2Cut pork shoulder into long strips about 2 inches wide.
- 3Place pork in a resealable bag or container and pour marinade over the pork. Marinate for at least 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
- 4Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a rack on top.
- 5Remove pork from marinade and place on the rack. Reserve leftover marinade.
- 6Roast pork for 15 minutes. Brush with reserved marinade, flip, and brush the other side.
- 7Continue roasting for another 15-20 minutes, basting once more, until pork is cooked through and slightly charred.
- 8Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
